Superintendent's message
If someone had told me ten years ago that I would be in this position, I would have told them
there was no chance. It had never been a part of my career trajectory, but I am incredibly
humbled and grateful that I was afforded this opportunity. It has given me a chance to work with
some great educators, a great group of school board members, two hard working and dedicated
secretaries, two financial managers who do what is best for everyone and a support staff that
never fails to amaze me with their dedication and their desire to see kids thrive.
We continue to create opportunities for our students and staff to grow. Our elementary teachers
attended a conference on the Science of Reading last spring and brought home some tools to
become even more effective educators. We welcome new staff to improve our math program at
the elementary and hired new staff to expand our ability to move toward offering daycare. We
are working on a partnership with Wheeler County to help revitalize Glover Center and create an
expanded library space for the elementary at the same time. We continue to implement programs
to improve our education, our environment and our physical spaces. We have some other
exciting projects planned in the next two years which will hopefully benefit the community as a
whole. We are continuing to move forward to make this district even better than it has
historically been.
I will always welcome and encourage anyone in the community to come and see me. I look
forward to the opportunity to talk to you and make sure that you are heard in our quest to educate
our children.
My plan to put air conditioning in our gymnasiums hit a snag but I will continue to work on
plans to make that happen and create a place for a cooling shelter as well as make them more
comfortable for late summer games.
A I mentioned, we welcome in new staff members this year and look forward to their
contributions to an already talented and dedicated staff. We welcome a new half-time math
teacher at the elementary to allow us to split our grades for math instruction to deliver more
intensive lessons to our students. We welcome two new instructional aides to allow us to give
more personal attention to the students under the direction of our teachers as our classes continue
to grow. We welcome a full time PE/Shop/Health teacher at the high school which allows us to
move away from a web based health program to an in person method of instruction. I encourage
you to come in and visit with us and get to know, or get reacquainted with our staff!
Athletics have started and we look forward to seeing you at games. I am very excited to see your
children in school this year and look forward to welcoming our new staff members aboard as
well.
Please feel free to come see us! We are here to serve!
